WhatsApp lead generation from ads, QR codes and your website
Endelir turns ad clicks, QR scans and website taps into WhatsApp conversations on your business number, creates the contact, records which ad brought it, and gives every lead an owner. An enquiry that arrives as a conversation can be asked a follow-up question; a form submission cannot. Endelir takes every enquiry that reaches your business number — from an ad that opens a chat, a website button, a QR code on a leaflet — creates or matches the contact, and, when the enquiry came from an ad, records which one. From there it is a conversation someone owns, not a row in a spreadsheet nobody opens.

The enquiry arrives, and then it is on its own
Money goes into ads, hoardings, a stall at an exhibition, a website. The interest that comes back arrives in pieces: a missed call, a form fill nobody rings, a message on one salesperson's phone, a note on a pad at the front desk. Each piece is a person who wanted something, and most of them are never answered.
The conversations that do start are hard to account for. Nobody can say which ad produced them, whether the person was asked the basic questions, or who is meant to follow up. By the time anyone looks, the enquiry is a week old and the customer has bought elsewhere.
Every entry point ends in the same place
Point them all at one business number. An ad that opens a chat, a button on your website, a QR code on a brochure, the number on your invoice — each of them starts a conversation in the same shared inbox. Endelir creates the contact if it is new and matches it if the person has written before, so a returning customer does not become a second record.
When the message comes from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad, Meta sends the ad's details with it, and Endelir stores them: the click identifier, the source type and id, the link and the headline of the ad they tapped. A chat flow can then ask the two or three questions that decide what happens next, write the answers onto the contact, and hand the conversation to the right person on your team.
How it works
- 1 Someone taps or scans A Click-to-WhatsApp ad, a link on your site, a QR code on a poster, or the number printed on your packaging.
- 2 The chat opens on your number WhatsApp opens with your business already selected. The link can carry a first message written in advance, and you can give each poster and page its own wording.
- 3 The contact is created or matched A new person becomes a contact; someone who has written before opens with their history intact.
- 4 The source is recorded For an ad, Endelir stores the referral id, source type, source id, link and headline against that message and contact.
- 5 The first questions get asked A chat flow asks what the person is looking for and saves each answer to a field on the contact record.
- 6 It gets an owner The flow hands the conversation to a team, or someone in the inbox takes it, and the assignment is visible to everyone else.
- 7 The outcome is written down Site visit booked, quote sent, not a fit — recorded on the contact, so the next person can see it.
What this looks like in practice
A property company advertises a new project. The ad opens a chat instead of a landing page, so the first thing that happens is a person writing 'is this ready to move in?' rather than a form submission that sits in an inbox until someone exports it.
Endelir creates the contact and stores the headline of the ad they tapped. A flow asks about budget, preferred area and when they want to move, saves the three answers to the contact, and passes the chat to the sales team. The agent who opens it can read the answers before typing a word, and the manager can see which enquiries still have nobody's name against them.
What can happen next
Who this suits
What to know before you set it up
Answering someone who wrote to you first needs no template — there is a service window in which your team can reply freely. Starting a conversation, or picking one up after that window has closed, uses a message template Meta has approved in advance. Endelir keeps track of which of the two you are in. Marketing follow-up also needs the person's consent recorded, and Endelir refuses a marketing campaign to a contact without it. A bought or scraped list is not a lead source, and this is not the software for one.
The ad details only exist when Meta sends them, which means Click-to-WhatsApp ads. A QR code or a website link carries no ad data, so distinguish those by the pre-filled first message in the link. Endelir stores what arrives against the message and the contact; it does not yet present it as a campaign performance report. Facebook lead forms and Instagram direct messages do not connect to Endelir today.
What to watch
- How many new conversations start, and how many are new contacts
- How long a new enquiry waits for its first reply
- How many finish the qualifying questions rather than dropping out
- How many enquiries end up with a named owner
- How many reach the next real step — a visit, a quote, a call
- Which ad headlines are attached to the enquiries worth having

Questions people ask
How can I generate leads through WhatsApp?
You build entry points that let an interested person start a conversation with you, then make sure the conversation goes somewhere. The usual ones are ads that open a chat, a button on your website, a QR code on printed material or a shop display, and the number itself on invoices and packaging. Endelir handles what happens after the tap: the contact is created or matched, a chat flow asks the questions that matter to your business, the answers are saved to the contact, and the conversation is assigned to someone who can act on it. The part most businesses get wrong is the second half — the entry points are easy, and the enquiries still go cold because nobody owns them.
What is a Click-to-WhatsApp lead?
It is an enquiry that comes from an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram whose button opens a chat with your business instead of loading a landing page. The person writes what they actually want rather than picking from the fields a form decided to ask for, and your team can ask a follow-up question in the same conversation. Meta sends the ad's details along with that first message, so the conversation arrives knowing which ad produced it.
Can Endelir tell me where a lead came from?
For an enquiry from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad, yes. Meta sends a referral with the first message and Endelir stores it against that message and the contact: the click identifier, the source type, the source id, the link and the headline of the ad. That is specific enough to tell one campaign's enquiries from another's. Two honest limits. First, this data only exists for ads — a QR code or a plain website link carries none of it, so the common trick is to give each poster or page its own pre-filled first message and read the source from the wording. Second, Endelir records the source but does not yet show it back to you as a campaign report, so today it is something you read on the conversation rather than a dashboard of cost per lead.
Can a website visitor become a lead on WhatsApp?
Yes. Put a link or a button on your site that opens a chat with your business number, and a visitor who would never fill in a contact form will often ask a question instead. The conversation lands in the same shared inbox as everything else, gets the same flow and the same owner, and you keep the person's number rather than an email address they may not read.
Can QR codes be used for lead generation?
Yes, and this is the cheapest way to connect offline interest to a digital record. A QR code on a leaflet, a store display, a restaurant table, an exhibition stand or the back of a business card opens a chat with your number. Give each placement its own link with its own pre-filled first message, and the wording of that first message tells you which one the person scanned, since no ad data comes with a scan.
Is everyone who sends 'hi' a qualified lead?
No. A conversation starting means somebody was interested enough to tap, and nothing more. What turns it into a lead is asking the few questions that decide whether you can help — budget, area, dates, quantity, whatever your business actually needs to know. In Endelir those questions are a chat flow, and each answer is saved to a field on the contact, so the qualification survives the conversation instead of living in one salesperson's memory.
What should happen immediately after a new enquiry arrives?
The person should get a useful reply quickly. A keyword reply can acknowledge them within seconds, and a chat flow can start asking what they need while your team is busy. A person can take over at any point, which pauses the automation on that conversation. The aim of the first few minutes is narrow: turn an unstructured 'is this available?' into a contact with answers on it and a named owner, so the follow-up has something to work from.
